騎士今天在主場100：99力克老鷹，系列賽4：0橫掃，季後賽拉出8連勝連續第二年打進東區決賽；騎士在對老鷹系列賽每場砍進19.3個三分，三分命中率5成06，史上第一；且是NBA賽史上不論季賽或季後賽，首支連4場投進至少15個三分球的隊伍。
上一支在季後賽打出8勝0敗開局的是2012年馬刺，騎士前鋒詹姆斯（LeBron James）也曾在2009年率領騎士打出季後賽8勝0敗開局，今年東區冠軍騎士似乎已勝券在握，騎士未來東區決賽對手不論是熱火還是暴龍，兩隊先發中鋒目前都傷停無法出賽。不過，據統計自2003年首輪採取7戰4勝制以來，過去4支前兩輪橫掃對手的球隊，最後均未能奪冠，因此就看騎士能否打破魔咒。
騎士除了嚴密的防守，控制失分，強勢籃板球，今年季後賽騎士打出「變態三分球」，季後賽平均每場投進16.9個三分，每場出手36.1次，三分命中率4成66，都是史上第一，也超越失去柯瑞（Stephen Curry）的金州勇士。
對老鷹系列賽，騎士總計投進77個三分球，還創下連續兩場至少投進21個三分球，兩戰一共投進46個三分，單場命中25個三分球，締造NBA例行賽、季後賽單場最多命中紀錄。
詹皇說，「我們現在處於最棒節奏中，完全知道我們在場上該做什麼。」
騎士的三分打法和戰術，主要來自詹姆斯的策應傳球和開放式進攻，加上騎士擁有兩名擅長投三分球的大前鋒勒夫（Kevin Love）、佛萊（Channing Frye），搭配後衛射手厄文（Kyrie Irving）、史密斯（JR Smith）、戴拉維多法（Matthew Dellavedova）、威廉斯（Mo Williams），騎士把三分戰術和自由開放式進攻打得行雲流水，成為NBA當代戰術潮流。
